The outpouring of German support following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks has been nothing short
of amazing. For weeks afterword, total strangers, upon hearing I'm American, would
ask how I was doing, if my friends and family were safe. The official demonstration of support
was amply displayed at a rally held at Brandenburger Tor, where 200,000 -- 200,000! -- Germans,
many wearing stickers proclaiming solidarity with the United States, showed up.
