The Scribes of Castlemere
The Scribes of Castlemere meet once a month at Mæva's place for the "Scribal Tea", a casual and fun get-together usually with a class, some time to chat and socialize and scrolls to work on followed by a potluck dinner. Check the Shire of Castlemere and Scribes of Castlemere Mailinglists for dates, times and place !
Next Scribal Tea : 25th of June 2006 2006 is going to see a series of new classes on various styles introducing calligraphy and illumination alike. We started with a class on what is generally referred to as the "celtic style". The next class will be "Pens & Brushes: The Age of Charlemagne" so stay tuned ! Come and join us at Mæva's A&S Nights every 1st and 3rd wednesday from 7pm until midnight Jacksonville-Springfield. Bring your current A&S or research project or just curl up on the couch with a book from Mæva's and Suibhne's extensive library covering many topics and many timeperiods. Once a year our Shire runs "Scriptorium", a whole event dedicated to the Scribal Arts, and we endeavor to man a Scribal Meeting Point at other Castlemere events to further promote the scribal arts providing practice scrolls and ad hoc lessons for interested newcomers.
