This is a sort of mobile bookmarks list. On it you'll find some of the sites I stop by frequently, as well as some new, exciting places I stumble across.

OK, so it's not exactly tomorrow ...

Anyway, Here are the movie links I go to:

    Ain't It Cool News
    Mr. Cranky
    Upcoming Movies

And, following up on the comic strip list I started a few posting ago, here's some more I'm frequenting:
    It's Walky!
    Real Life
    Angst Technology

Being unable to watch U.S. television, I content myself with reading about. The best place I've found through which I can follow my favorite shows is Television without Pity. I also check out The Futon Critic and TeeVee occasionally.

Tomorrow: Movies.

This links list hasn't been updated in a while, mainly because I didn't see as much of a need for it. I started this section of the site when I was bouncing around amongst various computers and Internet cafes, and wanted a way to keep a semi-permanent favorites list. For the past few months, though, I've been at one machine, which I've been happily filling up with bookmarks. Finding out that the list on this machine isn't portable has prompted me to begin listing stuff here again.

For today, here's some comic strip sites that I've stumbled across in the past few weeks:
Red Meat
You Damn Kids
Sluggy Freelance

And, of course, the best guide to Sunday comics in the world: Funny Papers

Here's an odd little humor site -- or perhaps, since it's British, I should say humour site. It's rather like a English version of the Onion.

Being back in Germany has also brought to my attention that the currency converter linked to below is dead. So now I use this one.

Now that I'm in Hamburg, I've found this city map helpful.

A site I've turned to often in the last few weeks, especially as I've traveled outside of Germany: Travel-Finder's Currency Conversion. You can convert to and from any currency, including Platinum Ounces and IMF Special Drawing Rights, whatever the heck that is.

If you'd like to send me an SMS, a good way I've found to do so is the web-based service provided by MTNSMS. It's nifty.

A site I found the other day, while looking for a way to get this dang thing back online: freewebftp.com. It's a site where you can upload and download stuff, basically run a website, all through this nifty interface. Very nice.

Oh, and for more traditional sources of foreign news, I turn to Foreign Policy magazine, Medium4's Foreign TV and the the Library of Congress' Handbook Series.

I'm usually prety leery of independent media -- not because the big boys always get it right, but at least I know what they are. (The rumor about CNN faking the footage of Palestinians celebrating, for example, was put on the web by an indie news site with the rationale that getting the information out would be the best way to check it. That's just irresponisble.) But recently I've been turning to a news site ran by two Israeli journalists about the Mid East. Check out Debka.com for breaking inside information.

Looking around for some lighter fare, I've recently become addicted to the Baltimore City Paper's comic strip review, Funny Paper and the wonderously zany Hole City.

I'm also wont to swing by everybody's favorite webzines: Slate and Salon, as well as the lesser-known but better-written Ironminds.

Here are the sites I visit on a pretty much daily basis ...

Being a news junkie, I check out the New York Times (which requires free registration) and the Washington Post (which doesn't). I'll then swing through Slate's Today's Papers or check out the personalized news site I've set up at Crayon.

Depending on the time (i.e., am I actually working or just at work), I'll see if there's anything new at the Brunching Shuttlecocks, check up on James Lileks' Bleat and get my fill of industry gossip at Jim Romenesko's MediaNews
