Thanks for stopping by

This is the online home of Timothy Gibbons, a reporter with a decade of experience both in the United States and abroad. My professional focus at the moment is the combined city/county government in Jacksonville, Fla., a beat I cover for the Florida Times-Union, focusing on budget shortfalls, pension problems and economic development challenges confronting the city's executive branch.

Before taking over that beat, I covered military affairs for the Florida Times-Union, writing about the area's military bases and large veterans community as well as broader issues that affect active-duty and retired military personnel. I moved to that job after covering international trade and transportation, helping readers in Northeast Florida connect to the global economy.

Prior to joining the paper in 2002, I was an editor at Oskar's, a bilingual magazine based in Hamburg, Germany, and has also written for the News-Journal in Daytona Beach, Fla., the News-Herald in suburban Cleveland and the Times Leader in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., as well as freelancing for newspapers and magazines both in the United States and Germany.

From here, you can take a look at a selection of articles I've written or peruse my resume. The links on the left can take you to the most recent things I've written, while those on the left provide other navigational options.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.
